Oscar-nominee Felicity Jones, who was just lovely in Theory Of Everything, has been cast as the female lead in Gareth Edward’s Star Wars spin-off movie, opening December 16th, 2016. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who also confirm the rumors that Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara were also reading for the role. Any chance we could add more female characters and hire them anyway, because they’re awesome? Come on, Disney! You just replaced screenwriter Gary Whitta with Chris Weitz. Now’s the time to add more awesome.

Speaking of adding awesome, The Hollywood Reporter also says “Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are on the interest list for the male lead.”

Oh, hey, remember those rumors about Gareth Edward’s Star Wars spin-off being about a young Han Solo’s exploits, and they reportedly wanted Aaron Paul to play the young Solo? We remember, and we did a little dance when we heard Paul’s name being mentioned again.
