The Latest ‘Suicide Squad’ Featurette Reveals How The Team Got Into Fighting Shape

These days, blockbuster movies often just feel like big expensive cartoons with everything from the sets and explosions, to fight scenes shot almost entirely with green screen and CGI. That can be fun, but sometimes you need something a little more grounded. Thankfully, Suicide Squad looks like it may provide a refreshing break from current trends with more practical effects and gritty, down-to-earth fight scenes.

The new DC Comics movie’s latest behind-the-scenes featurette covers quite a bit of ground, but the most interesting parts concern all the training the team did to prepare for it. Unlike a lot of superhero flicks, the cast of Suicide Squad did a lot of their own stunts and fully participated in their fight scenes. The fact that the movie mostly shoots its actors from the front, rather than stunt doubles from the back, looks like it’s going to pay off. You’re definitely going to want to check out Margot Robbie unleashing with her baseball bat, as well as pulling off a pretty impressive wall-walking flip in an elevator. Aside from all the nifty stunts, the video also contains plenty of new snippets from the movie, including a couple of new looks at the Joker.

Suicide Squad crashes into theaters Aug. 5.
