It was nice when The Wonder Years was finally released on DVD.
But enough of that Brotherhood of Man sh*t. When are we going to get The Decline of Western Civilization, Penelope Spheeris’ brilliant documentary about the Los Angeles punk scene, and its two sequels, The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years and the gutter punk-focused Decline of Western Civilization III? Well, good news for fans of The Germs, Circle Jerks, and X: Shout! Factory is releasing the trilogy as a four-disc set on June 30, complete with a 40-page book, interviews, and a commentary track by Dave Grohl.
“I am so grateful to the fans of these films, and the bands that appeared in them, for their loyalty and patience,” Spheeris, whose directorial credits also include Wayne’s World and Black Sheep, said in a statement. “This is my life’s work, and I like to think that when I go to my grave, The Decline is what I’ll be remembered for.” (Via)
