Shane Black is a busy man. His critically acclaimed new movie, The Nice Guys is about to hit theaters, he’s working to revive the Predator franchise, and has his sights on bringing classic pulp hero Doc Savage to the screen. The latter could be particularly exciting, as Black says he wants his Doc Savage to be a pure, old-school, yeti-fighting badass, and would “very much like” him to be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson playing the ultimate pulp hero who could literally do anything sounds like good casting to me, but there’s been no confirmation that The Rock is interested in the role.

Well, at least there wasn’t until now. That’s because Johnson recently posted this to Instagram:

At first glance, it’s just your typical inspirational Dwayne Johnson spiel. Find your anchor! A joke about elk piss! Oh, Rock, you’re incorrigible! But wait… what’s this random line in the middle? According to Johnson, he’s reading an “an outline for a cool movie I’ll make in 2017 with director Shane Black.” Huh! Well, that certainly sounds like a confirmation that The Rock’s playing the Doc to me! I suppose he could be talking about The Predator, but that begins filming this year. No, it’s definitely a Doc Savage tease.

What do you think? Excited to see Dwayne Johnson “Rock Bottom” Big Foot in an tastefully torn shirt and khaki riding pants? Of course you are.
