‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Debuts Megatron, And Fans Think He’s More Like Jumbo Ultron

Transformers: Age Of Extinction made $1.1 billion at the box office, most of it overseas, so it’s safe to say that the Transformers film franchise is going to keep on churning out entries until the end of time. And in a bid to remind ’80s kids of their childhoods, the series is bringing back Megatron. But, er, that design reminds us of something much more recent.

For a bit of contrast, here’s Ultron from 2014’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron:

When Megatron’s design was posted to Facebook, fans almost immediately started pointing out that the two designs feel very similar… when they weren’t noting that Galvatron was in the last movie and Galvatron is Megatron. You would think that after director and producer Michael Bay showed us Devastator’s giant balls (despite the fact that there were no wrecking balls in the robots that made up Devastator in the movie) that fans would realize that Bay does whatever he wants, but apparently not.

Still, don’t be surprised if this is a bit too audacious even for Paramount, and Bay has to redesign Meg-ultron to something with a bit less potential liability. But at least he can take solace that fans are happier about this than Sqweeks looking like Wall-E and BB-8.
