‘Warcraft’ Shows Even More War In A New International Trailer

Warcraft is bidding to be the first movie that truly adapts a video game to the silver screen, although they may have overcorrected just slightly. Still, it looks like if you want big battles with magic and swords this summer, this will be your movie.

That said, it would be nice to learn more about the plot from these. So far, what we’ve seen has emphasized the battles and the computing power thrown at the screen, but very little’s been brought up about, uh, just why the orcs and humans are fighting. It seems that at least some orcs and humans have moments of “Hey, maybe constant war isn’t the best idea?”, which is a welcome change from the usual plotline. Orcs just need hugs, you guys.

Beyond that, it’ll be an interesting summer for Warcraft. It arrives overseas in May, but won’t show up in the U.S. until June 10, where it’s up against The Conjuring 2 and Now You See Me 2. Considering that it’s added the subtitle “The Beginning” to it, Warcraft clearly hopes to have a Warcraft 2 in that mix in a few years. But we’ll find out just how that goes this summer.
