SNL alums Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are attached to a new project and it’s not an elaborate super secret Lifetime goof, either. (We think.)

Wiig and Ferrell are both attached to a ritzy new motion picture musical, reports Deadline. The project will be based on Steve Young (not that one) and Sport Murphy’s book Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age Of Industrial Musicals which presumably rules out a Dooneese Maharell cameo. The duo of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (who did a bang-up job on Broadway’s Hairspray) will handle the score and La La Land producer Marc Platt is helping shepherd the project as well.

What does Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age Of Industrial Musicals hold in store for audiences when it eventually hits the silver screen? According to Deadline, the answer is pretty much on the label.

The book Everything is Coming Up Profits by Steve Young and Mike Murphy reveals how corporate America employed Broadway talent to take part in industrial shows from the 1950s to the 1980s to help motivate sales forces and educate employees on products. Some of those musical shows were actually recorded for posterity and the subject matter lends itself to some great humor as some of these actors had to play inanimate objects (and would fight for those roles) or get overly excited about diesel engines, bathtubs or selling tires while they dreamed of being “somebody.”

There are a variety of exciting directions for this project to venture into, so we’re intrigued to see what’s to come and can easily imagine Ryan Gosling sneaking in to play an inanimate object. An award-winning inanimate object quite possibly!
