Zack Snyder Comments On ‘Batman V Superman’ Rumors, Steven Spielberg’s Statement

Yahoo! interviewed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder about a Doritos contest — ¯_(ツ)_/¯ — but, thankfully, it wasn’t only about Doritos. They also veered into a discussion about Steven Spielberg saying superhero movies are on their way out and about Batman v Superman rumors, during which Snyder shot down one rumor in particular.

When asked about Steven Spielberg’s comment that superhero movies will fall out of favor soon, as Westerns did, Snyder told Yahoo!

“He might not be wrong. I think it puts more pressure on us, the filmmakers, to not just crank out superhero movies for the sake of it. To me, the one thing I love working in the DC universe is that Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman are American mythology. It’s not about making a superhero, it’s a mythological universe that we live in. That I hope stands the test of time.”

When asked about Batman v Superman rumors, Snyder hinted that some of them are true:

“It’s funny because every now and then someone will touch on something that’s kind of true, but the next thing they say makes me realize that they took a wild guess. […] It’s fun for everyone to speculate and take shots and think of things and try to sell it. There’s an industry in selling your guess.”

I have no idea what he’s talking about (says the guy who makes a living off comic book movie rumors)…

Some real dirt came out of the interview, though. When asked about the craziest rumor he’s heard, Snyder shot down the one about his son, Eli Snyder, playing one of the Robins and getting killed by Jared Leto’s joker:

“There’s a rumor that my son is [playing] Robin. It’s not true. Now there are all these images of him that people have made where he’s dressed like Robin. It’s fun to hear and see them.”

JENA MALONE AS ROBIN CONFIRMED. (That was sarcasm.)
