KISS' Gene Simmons Thinks Kurt Cobain Isn't A 'Music Icon' Because He's Dead

When you need advice on where to buy love guns and whether you’re supposed to lick it up or lick it down, or if you need to know what’s the rocking city (Albany), you go to Gene Simmons. Otherwise, I’m not sure why people in 2013 are still talking to him, because when they do, they get nonsensical, tongue-dangling gibberish like this.

In a recent interview with Team Rock Radio, Simmons went into great detail as to just who does or does not qualify as a music icon…After rolling out a list of Simmons-approved, bona fide music idols, he said:

“Kurt Cobain — no, that’s one or two records, that’s not enough. Amy Winehouse — that’s one or two records, that’s not enough. What, just ’cause you died that makes you an icon? No, no.” (Via)

“Icon” is to music as “elite” is to football, which proves Simmons’s theory that Kurt Cobain would be a terrible starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens.
