The musical bio film is a trend that just doesn’t seem to want to die. People love them and it gives folks a chance to relive the great music of an artist while getting the condensed version of their biography. There’s a lot of good, like Ray or Walk The Line, and a lot of bad, like the pointless CBGB.
Judging this on the trailer alone isn’t fair, but Andre Benjamin actually looks like he is able to pull off Jimi Hendrix. I couldn’t say the same thing about the James Brown movie Get On Up, even though I love James Brown and think Chadwick Boseman is a pretty good actor.
It could be the opposite here, where Andre Benjamin looks like Hendrix and can’t act at all. I hope not because this looks interesting, to a point.
