Did Katy Perry Make A Subtle Jab At Taylor Swift During Her Halftime Show?

Like most of you I’m sure, last night I watched Katy Perry’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in rapt attention to see whether or not she would make good on her promise to somehow burn sworn enemy Taylor Swift during her performance. From what I could tell it seemed to be a wash, however, and the admittedly solid performance sadly concluded with no signs of drama.

But that’s what separates me from a real celebrity expert, because this Miley Cyrus superfan pointed out on Twitter yesterday evening that Katy Perry’s backup dancers were wearing bikinis that looked maybe a little too familiar:

On one hand, the swimsuits did fit the theme of the over-the-top cartoonish beach party theme… On the other hand, no one aside from notoriously belly button-hiding Taylor Swift has worn a bikini like than since the 1950s. Let’s see what some other experts in the field over at Hollywood Life think.

Katy seemed to deliberately put the high-waisted polka dot bikinis on backup dancers. Backup dancers were reportedly the cause of Katy and Taylor’s feud in the first place. Ouch.

The understated dig is also pretty much a direct reference to Taylor’s Cape Cod summer with Conor Kennedy in 2012. The “Blank Space” singer was frequently spotted out with the dashing gentleman and we’d never forget that red, high-waisted polka dot bikini she wore that summer.

Well I don’t know about you guys but I’m convinced. To add insult to injury, one of the now infamous sharks that danced next to Katy Perry also happened to be Scott Myrick, one of those backup dancers that they were fighting about. I think there’s only one way to up this feud and that would be for Taylor Swift to take the stage in a giant Cheetos costume when her world tour kicks off in May. YOUR MOVE, SWIFTY.
