David Duchovny Is Releasing A Solo Album Because David Duchovny Does What He Pleases

So, David Duchovny made a very important announcement on Twitter today: “I sing.” Indeed, after surprising us with his revelation that Fox Mulder was the worst F.B.I. agent ever, the X-Files and Californication actor revealed plans to release a solo album titled Hell or Highwater on May 12. Here’s the tweet with a short preview video:

A press release obtained by TheWrap explains that the album is “firmly embedded in [Duchovny’s] uniquely lyrical, troubadour style,” so in case you thought he was switching things up and recording a dubstep album, please let this quell your concerns. If Duchovny’s musical prowess comes as a surprise, you’re not alone. It seems to be a surprise to him, too:

“Making this record is a dream come true, but I never had this dream — it’s still a shock when I think about how all this music happened,” Duchovny said. “What I do know is that I feel these songs represent the truest expression that I’ve ever been able to achieve and I look forward to sharing it with everyone.”

Either way, he’s pretty psyched about Hell or Highwater, for which he wrote all 12 songs and will release the title track as a single tomorrow on Amazon.
