David Letterman’s friends are all stopping by as the host prepares to hand off The Late Show to Stephen Colbert. He has few better than Elvis Costello, at least as far as the show goes.
On Thursday, Costello made his 27th, and likely final appearance, on The Late Show under Letterman’s watch. Don’t forget, he was actually a guest host one of those times (with Mitch Hedberg as a guest! R.I.P., Mitch).
Backed by the vocal group The Quills, Costello performed a gentle medley of Nick Lowe’s “When I Write the Book” and his own “Everyday I Write the Book.”
