Sorry to burst your feud-loving bubbles, but Katy Perry is not planning a “revenge” song against Taylor Swift after all. Yesterday, a rumor about Perry registering a song titled “1984” with BMI caught wildfire because it looked like the Perry was getting ready to deliver a pop-electric blow to her former friend, whose latest album was called 1989 and just released “Bad Blood,” which is allegedly targeted at Perry. But alas, no dice. Perry’s management stepped up to set the record straight, no pun intended (unless you love puns):

“Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false,” a rep for Perry at Universal tells Billboard. “Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song.”

The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the song was registered back in September and that Perry’s name still appeared on the song, but it’s since been taken off.

Sorry, folks. Nothing to see here. Yet.
