The action, the intrigue, the sex appeal… who could resist that suave playboy you know that everyone loves? You know him: Noted womanizer Sam Smith, of course. Maybe some of our information is off there, but, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the Grammy-award winning singer is the lead candidate to perform the theme to the latest James Bond adventure, SPECTRE. While insiders had him out of the running a few weeks ago, and he even addressed the rumors, saying it was going to Ellie Goulding and not him, it would now appear his name is at the top of the pile again.

Other singers in the running are Ed Sheeran, the previously-mentioned Ellie Goulding, Adele as a repeat, Lana Del Rey, Lorde and even Noel Gallagher. While it’s true that getting the theme to a Bond film is a crap shoot (some are incredible and others are barely memorable), “Skyfall” won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Grammy and a Brit Award. It would be an opportunity that any musician would love to take a shot at. And, hopefully, they’re more Paul McCartney “Live and Let Die” and less Rita Coolidge “All-Time High.” See, you don’t even know what movie that second one is from!
