Eddie Vedder Partied With The Chicago Cubs After Their Wild Card Win

If we were going to rank all-time Chicago Cubs superfans, Eddie Vedder would be right up there with Vince Vaughn and the ghost of Harry Caray. So, it’s pretty awesome that the Pearl Jam vocalist got to party with the Cubbies after the damn-near mythical hot streak of pitcher Jake Arrieta led them to a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in last night’s National League Wild Card Game.

Alternative Nation compiled a few shots of Vedder celebrating with the Cubs last night, including a photo of Vedder spraying champagne and a shot of Vedder and Arrieta, where the singer looks like he’s meeting Santa Claus.

Vedder won’t be on hand for the first game of the National League Divison Series in St. Louis on Friday. As he explained to reporter Jordan Bastian:

“I have kids and a job. I’ll be in Chicago!”

He added that he loves it when the Cubs “start smoking” referring to the tradition of celebrating a big win with cigars.

The postseason win in Pittsburgh’s PNC Park was the first for the North Siders since 2003, when the Cubs lost to the eventual World-Series-Champion Florida Marlins and made an average Chicagoan infamous for no reason.
