Will Smith Confirms ‘Bad Boys 3,’ A Summer Tour, And A New Album While On Beats 1

When Will Smith decided to come out of retirement and drop his first song in more than a decade, we should have predicted there was more to come. But there’s no way we could have known that he was going to drop multiple bombshells on us like this.

While making a stop on Zane Lowe’s show on Beats 1 Monday, the world-famous megastar made some pretty monumental announcements. Among a lot of talk on how failure is necessary, how Jaden Smith doesn’t give a f*ck, how After Earth sucked, and how Run the Jewels is great, he confirmed that he was in the studio and he has at least 30 songs in the can.

I’m pretty much popping in the studio every day, and I’m looking for artists to collaborate with. I’m just trying to still find that voice. I have so many things that I want to say, and I’m struggling with saying them in a way that fits the flavor of music that I tend to like. So I’ve been working hard. I’ve got a lot of young artists and young philosophers just trying to help me extract the ideas from my mind. But I’ve probably recorded 30 songs and I’ve got six or seven that I really like.

While some may say that sounds eerily similar to Drake saying music is a “collaborative process” in his profile in The Fader, and bring up Nas famously wrote a number of tracks on Big Willie Style, they probably aren’t aware of the storytelling that Will was more than capable of while performing with DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. There’s a reason he ended up landing The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Speaking of Jazzy Jeff, being that the two of them have never properly headlined a full tour, they plan to hit the road next summer to do a nationwide tour. The ’90s are alive in the country of America.

But it doesn’t stop there. Perhaps the biggest announcement among all these bombshells was revealed while talking about his work in his forthcoming projects Concussion and Suicide Squad. Will Smith has officially confirmed the return of Bad Boys 3.

Bad Boys. There is a very strong possibility that you will be seeing a Bad Boys within the next 12 to 16 months.

BOOM!
