The Heavy Metal Community Did Not Readily Accept Justin Bieber As Their Own

If Metallica didn’t lose their hardcore metal credibility in Some Kind of Monster (in which the heralded gods of thrash metal were crying about their problems and woes in therapy), this may indeed put the final nail in the coffin of their metal respectability.

This week on Ellen, the pop culture lightning rod that is Justin Bieber had an emotional chat with Ellen about his manhood among other things. He did so while wearing a Metallica shirt that most likely came into existence even before Bieber was a fetus. Naturally, diehard fans of the band (and of metal in general, to be quite honest) were quick to crush this visual and try to burn it from their retinas.

As to be expected, the Internet was not subdued with their reactions:

To be fair, Bieber only wore the Metallica shirt and didn’t feel so inclined to jump out and start singing impromptu songs like, “Call of Ktulu” and “Wherever I May Roam,” although the visual of that potential disaster sounds pretty amazing now that I think about it. However, the very sight of the Biebs wearing a Metallica shirt leaves a sour taste in the mouth of many metal aficionados. As of right now, Bieber has said nothing of the Twitter backlash. However, if he ever sings duet on an upcoming Metallica album, fans might be in a state of constant terrified paralysis.
