A New Festival Is Bringing All Things ’90s, Proving We May Be At Nostalgia Critical Mass

Nostalgia-based concerts are nothing new; sometimes, your local county fair wants people to come out and eat the same funnel cake they had last year, so they hire Dishwalla to play “Counting Blue Cars,” and everyone is happy. But now that the ’90s are one huge internet meme, it was only a matter of time until an entire music festival of enormous size came to fruition. And this is how ’90s Fest, taking place in Brooklyn this fall, was born.

Hosted by Pauly Shore (because who else?), the festival has everyone’s favorites from the decade, such as Lisa Loeb, Coolio, Naughty By Nature, Tonic, the surviving members of Blind Melon, and the very peltable-with-bread Smash Mouth. In addition, ’90s Fest will also feature “Instagram’s Top Comedy Brands” F*ckJerry and Betches. Billboard also reports that there will be an attempt to break the world’s largest “Macarena” dance and a chance of Crystal Pepsi cocktails.

It all seems like the snake is starting to eat its own tail on this particular nostalgia trip, but maybe we’re being a little harsh. Besides, we still have a few years until we start diving into the 2000s. Who’s ready to remember Hoobastank and Scrubs?!
