Against Me! Embrace The Outer Limits In Their Dizzying ‘Crash’ Video

Against Me! fans have a lot to be excited about right now. On Sept. 16, the band will be releasing their seventh studio album, Shape Shift With Me, and today, the band released the video for the single “Crash,” the third track to be released from the album after “333” and “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts.” The video is a bit of low-budget genius that reminds us that despite the increased exposure in recent years, they have stayed completely true to their DIY roots.

In the video, we see the band rocking out in a set that sort of looks like it could be from an elementary school play. Then, we see them get attacked by mysterious space creatures, but while her bandmates are zapped by some ultra-cheesy effects, Laura Jane Grace is somehow unaffected, just rocking out the whole time. The whole thing is a so-bad-it’s-good riot, and its basically the punk rock version of a “Laser Cats” sketch.

As for the song itself, it’s one of the catchier songs of Against Me! have ever released, with a chorus that rates as quite an earworm. For Against Me!, it’s always been about integrity first, and any commercial success has been strictly consequential, but still, if the band was ever going to have a big rock radio hit, this could easily be it.
