As we mentioned when we introduced you to the Alabama Shakes when we posted their debut video from their debut album, we’re kinda big on them right now. Their debut album, Boys and Girls, is killer — and available on Amazon for only $5 and streaming free here right now — and they’re blowing up in a way that few bands do right out the gate. They seem to be destined to be the next Black Keys or something, and I’d have no beef with that at all if such a thing came to fruition.
Anyway, they performed “Hold On” on Letterman last night and it brought back memories of the first time I saw them live — a completely mesmerizing experience — and Letterman seemed kind of blown away as well. I still can hardly believe Brittany Howard’s voice can do the things that it does. She’s a goddamn star.
