Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Is Being Turned Into A Broadway Musical

YOU YOU YOU oughta know that Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morissette’s 1995 album about how much it literally and figuratively sucked to date Joey Gladstone, is one of the most successful albums of all-time. The numbers are ridiculous: it has sold over 33 million copies worldwide to date, which means more people have that dusty tie-die cover resting underneath The Eagles Greatest Hits than they do Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

So why NOT turn it into a Broadway musical (besides the fact that it’s 18 years old)?

The musical, also titled Jagged Little Pill, will feature all of the songs from the album, including “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Ironic” and “You Learn,” in addition to other material from her catalogue and new songs written specifically for the production.

Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then), who worked on the Broadway premiere of Green Day’s American Idiot, will pen orchestrations and new arrangements for the production. (Via)

Meanwhile, Off-Broadway, you can check out any number of supposed former junkies. For free!
