UPROXX Premiere: All Them Witches Get Trippy In Their New ‘Dirt Preachers’ Video

The pulsing psych rock of All Them Witches may pull from a lot of places — a bit of blues rock, a dash of prog, a little horror punk — but it all comes together to be a sound of their own. Their most recent effort, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker, that released at the end of October, is similarly diverse weaving effortlessly from one idea to the next.

Today, the Nashville rockers dropped their latest clip from the album for “Dirt Preachers,” and it’s an absolutely trippy treat. The animated video from indie rocker and part-time animator Chad VanGaalen tells the tale of creatures and goblins who live deep in the valley, as they present offerings for a death squad who comes to town. The Seuss-meets-Superjail! style clip perfectly matches up with the sludgey, doomy blues rock of the track.

There’s a similarity here in this visual between the story of plagues of Egypt, which has been ripe for musical inspiration before, but do goblins have genders? It kind of feels like the reapers on horses would just kill everyone involved here. Regardless, it’s a pretty visually arresting clip, provided you find beauty in the ugly things. Hopefully, you do.
