Ariana Grande joined her pal Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Thursday night to perform her latest hit “Side to Side” — and fans might’ve noticed she tackled part of the song usually reserved for someone else. Nicki Minaj couldn’t make it out to appear on the show with her, so Ariana handled the rapper’s verse all by herself, and did so admirably! Watch it above.
She did so well, in fact, that Minaj sent several heart-eye-emojis her way after seeing the song.

She also sat down for an interview with the host, and they played an entertaining guessing game, pulling out questions from “The Best Friends Box,” which allowed them to test their friendship with silly trivia questions about their likes and dislikes with each other. They’ve hung out a lot, and gotten into some goofy antics together, so it seemed like the right time to take their celebrity talk show friendship to the next level.
The first question posed was from Ariana: “If I could be any animal, what would I be?” Fallon thought he nailed it with “kitty cat” but Ariana threw everyone for a loop by revealing that she’d most like to be a seahorse. They also talked about food and condiments and then the duo got extra giggly when trying to guess Ariana Grande’s first “celebrity crush.” In another segment, they geeked out about Stevie Wonder and discussed her performance at the VMA’s, as well as her upcoming role of Penny in Hairspray this fall.
