Ariana Grande Will Be Pulling Double Duty On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Saturday Night Live adheres to a strict formula, save for the very rare, occasional stunt episode like the one directed by Francis Ford Coppola. There’s a host, and there’s a musical guest that plays a couple songs. However, every now and again, somebody pulled double duty, and Ariana Grande will be joining those who have been both the host and musical guest.

Grande will be taking on the task on the March 12 episode, and in an audio message posted on her website says that she is “excited and nervous,” to be doing double duty. Grande, who has been the musical guest on Saturday Night Live before, will be playing two never before heard songs during her performance. She will be singing “Dangerous Woman,” the title track from her upcoming album, as well as the song “Be Alright,” which we’ve gotten glimpses of thus far.

While Grande can handle the singing duties, having to do that alongside hosting will make it a busier night for her. What remains to be seen is how she does as a host. She certainly has acting experience, as she spent large portions of her childhood on the show Victorious (which once did a Match Game parody, making it all worthwhile), and its spinoff Sam & Cat. Those Nickelodeon shows tend to have a similar production value to the live sketches on SNL, so she should feel right at home. And maybe she’ll do a sketch about licking donuts and her current feelings on the United States of America.
