All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw a surprise Drake release, and Megan Thee Stallion realizing a big-time dream thanks to a special collaborator. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

Drake — Dark Lane Demo Tapes

Drake can decide to top the Best New Music This Week list any given week, and he proved that a few days ago when his surprise Dark Lane Demo Tapes project dominated the hip-hop conversation. Additionally, the Future- and Young Thug-featuring project will be followed by a legitimate album this summer.

Megan Thee Stallion — “Savage (Remix)” Feat. Beyonce

Beyonce became the idol of aspiring Texas musicians since her rise in Destiny’s Child, and that included Megan Thee Stallion. The fellow Houston native’s musical dreams came true last week when Beyonce hopped on a “Savage” remix (OnlyFans was pretty happy about it, too).

Lil Baby — My Turn (Deluxe)

Lil Baby’s new deluxe edition of My Turn expands the album to 26 total tracks (most of which have charted on the Hot 100). The half-dozen new songs include a collab with 42 Dugg and the appropriately titled “Social Distancing.”

Car Seat Headrest — Making A Door Less Open

Uproxx’s Steven Hyden wrote of the latest from Car Seat Headrest, “Making A Door Less Open is an enjoyable enough indie-pop record that for now, sadly, won’t be heard in the large theaters and festival spaces it was designed to dominate.”

Kehlani — “F&MU”

Three years after her debut album, Kehlani is finally ready to drop her sophomore effort, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. Before the album comes out this weekend, she previewed it with her steamy and bumping new single, “F&MU.”

Doja Cat — “Say So (Remix)” Feat. Nicki Minaj

Last week was big for female legends hopping on tracks by esteemed up-and-comers. First it was Beyonce and Megan Thee Stallion, and not long after that, Nicki Minaj joined Doja Cat for a new version of “Say So.” Despite some theories, the song contains no shade.

Haim — “I Know Alone”

Haim’s original plan was to delay their new album, but they instead decided that they will release Women In Music Pt. III in June. Ahead of then, they shared “I Know Alone,” a quarantine-appropriate track that was actually penned before social distancing.

Khalid — “Eleven (Remix)” Feat. Summer Walker

Khalid has gotten in the habit of remixing Free Spirit tracks, and his latest effort on that front is the Summer Walker-featuring re-work of “Eleven.” Additionally, the two got to live out their movie star fantasies in the song’s Fast And Furious-style video.

Lil Tjay — “Ice Cold”

Lil Tjay made his presence known in a big way on his debut album, True 2 Myself, which charted near the top when it came out. Now he’s onto the next one, and his latest output is “Ice Cold,” on which he spends time thinking about his friends who are either no longer with us or have found themselves behind bars.

Big Thief — “Love In Mine”

2019 was huge for Big Thief with U.F.O.F. and Two Hands, and despite how much they released that year, there’s even more material to spawn from the productive stretch. The latest bit of that to be revealed is “Love In Mine,” a lovely acoustic tune from the Two Hands sessions.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. .
