This Non-Beyonce Found Out What Happens When You Say Your Name Is Beyonce At Starbucks

There’s only one Beyonce.

Okay, that’s not literally true — there are nearly 2,000 women with that name in the United States — but it might as well be. Few names are as synonymous with a single person as Beyonce (it’s pretty much her, Adolf, and Cher). Last year, Humans of New York spoke to a woman named Beyonce who said that she got nervous when her teacher called attendance during her first day at a new school, because, “Every time people learn my name is Beyonce, somebody starts singing ‘Single Ladies.’ And some did, of course.”

But what happens when you say your name is Beyonce, even when it’s not, “just to be funny?” One Vine user, JewishJen, found out at Starbucks.

“Being the only person in line,” the Atlanta-based JewishJen told Mashable, “I figured it was my moment to be all I can BE(yonce)… Beyonce was the first name that came to mind because she never leaves anyone’s mind.”

This is a much better Starbucks lie than having the poor barista write “MERRY CHRISTMAS” on your cup, but you can’t just become a Beyonce — you have to earn it. And how do you do that? It’s a secret shared amongst Beyonces for centuries. It’s kind of like the No Homers Club, except we’re all Homer.
