Britney Spears’ ‘Make Me’ Featuring G-Eazy Reaffirms Her Living Legend Status

The unequivocal Princess of Pop, Britney Spears, has embarked on yet another musical renaissance as she’s dropped her brand new track, “Make Me.” Falling somewhere between the club anthems featured on Femme Fatale and the more subdued melodies found on Spears’ most recent studio album, Britney Jean, exists the living legend’s newest sound.

Boasting a mellifluous tune, “Make Me” strikes the perfect balance between the sultry Spears fans can’t get enough of and textures that are a bit more high brow. (Well, comparatively that is, to more brazen party beats like “Work Bitch,” which are great in their own right.) Delving into more sensuous R&B, “Make Me” offers plenty of her famed sensuous sounds that have become synonymous with the Grammy Award winner with a slew of “ooohs” and lyrics that state, “I just want you to make me move/ Like it ain’t a choice for you/ like you got a job to do.” This could easily be the next bedroom banger, seamlessly joining the ranks of songs like Ginuwine’s “Pony” and Chris Brown’s “Take You Down.”

Produced by Burns and co-written by Joe Janiak, alongside the 34-year-old global sensation’s vocals in “Make Me” is a rap verse by G-Eazy. Though perhaps a little extra (but on a song like this, what isn’t?), the “Almost Famous” rapper’s verse, for the most part, is a welcomed play off of Spears’ signature vocals.

After months of delays, “Make Me” marks the reality of Britney’s upcoming ninth studio album. With a David LaChapelle directed music video in the works, Spears still slaying on the Las Vegas stage, while also maintaining her mogul status in the perfume industry, time has proven her “living legend” reputation is well warranted.
