Chance The Rapper Sings Happy Birthday To Beyonce In The Key Of ‘The Simpsons’

This past Sunday marked the 35th anniversary of when the clouds opened up and Queen Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter descended from the heavens and blessed us with her godly presence. We truly aren’t (and probably will never) be worthy, but we can try! Chance the Rapper and millions of Made in America festival attendees did just that when the Chicago artist took a break from his performance to help wish his “auntie” a happy birthday.

Rather than singing the traditional birthday song or even Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday,” Chano instead referenced The Simpsons and reworked Michael Jack–err–Kipp Lennon’s original birthday song to Lisa Simpson in a 1991 episode of the television classic. “Happy Birthday, auntie. Auntie, it’s your birthday,” Chance sang before instructing the crowd to join in. “Auntie, it’s your birthday. God made you this day. You gave me the gift of an amazing concert and I’m proud of you today.” Bey could barely contain her adorable shyness, hiding behind husband Jay Z as Chance and her adoring fans continued to sing along.

Seems like Chance was repaying the kindness Bey bestowed upon him recently. The Coloring Book rapper completely freaked out when Bey photobombed him during a backstage interview at the MTV VMAs two weeks ago. Just one more encounter and these two will officially be obligated to hit the studio together!
