Chance The Rapper Loves Death Cab For Cutie And Is Planning To Collaborate With Them

Chance the Rapper is one of the most popular and critically adored rappers working today, but he’s also generous with collaborations. Look no further than the Donnie Trumpet album Surf, which Chance contributed vocals to. At Bonnaroo 2016, Chance was jumping on stage with folks left and right. He performed “No Problem” with both J. Cole and Bryson Tiller. He performed “Need to Know” with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and covered Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” with Miguel. The next collaboration for Chance? It looks like it might be indie rockers Death Cab for Cutie.

Would it surprise you to find out that Chance the Rapper is a big Death Cab fan? Evidently it’s true. Chance hung out with the band during Bonnaroo, posing for pictures and such. Dave Depper, guitarist for Death Cab, captioned one photo with “Chance the Rapper: incredibly nice dude, and huge Death Cab fan. Who knew?” Another photo caption indicates that Chance requested they play “I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” a request they honored. He crossed “Little Wanderer” off the list to write it in, so fans of that song can blame Chance for not being able to hear it.

As for the collaboration part, a fan asked Chance about the possibility of a collaboration between himself and Death Cab, to which he replied, “Big 10-4.” Given Chance’s track record, it seems likely he will follow through with this, and it would be a lot of fun to hear. So keep an ear out for a Chance/Death Cab collaboration. It seems like it might be on the horizon.
