Following in Lauryn Hill’s footsteps of tardiness, Charlamagne Tha God was a day late labeling the singer as “Donkey of the Day” on Tuesday morning’s edition of The Breakfast Club. This declaration came after Ms. Hill penned an open letter to her fans explaining why she is constantly tardy to her shows last Sunday. The popular radio show co-host said Hill’s reasoning behind being late reeks of entitlement.
“She’s not getting donkey for showing up late. She’s getting donkey for this entitled excuse she used for showing up late,” Charlamagne said before reading a few sentences from Hill’s lengthy Facebook post where she said she’s “challenged with alining her energy with the time.” But the Uncommon Sense host just wasn’t buying her excuse:
“That is the most entitled, bougie, wordy excuse for being late I have ever heard in my life. This is the excuse of someone with entitlement mentality. Like I told you all yesterday, service and gratitude will fuel your relationships, entitlement and expectations will poison them. Lauryn showing up late and then giving excuses like your energy was not aligned with the time is just lazy.”
Charlamagne went on to say the only person who’s worth waiting for is Jesus, and although he thinks Lauryn’s first two albums were “great,” the singer needs to “knock it off already.”
