CHVRCHES And Paramore’s Hayley Williams Are Animated Superheroes In The ‘Bury It’ Music Video

CHVRCHES hasn’t stopped touring since releasing last year’s (excellent) Every Open Eye. One of the more eventful stops on the road wasn’t on the road at all — it was aboard the Parahoy Cruise, where the Scottish synth-pop threesome teamed up with Paramore’s Hayley Williams (she’s a big fan of her “buds”) for a spirited rendition of “Bury It.” It was so well received that CHVRCHES released the remix as a single in June, and today, as a music video.

In the video, Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty are turned into animated superheroes. Their telekinetic powers apparently involve being able to lift stuff — they’re like Scottish Magnetos. Williams eventually joins the fun, and the four of them fly through the city and into the sky, as one does.

In a press release, Cook said, “Ever since [music video creator] Jamie McKelvie began working with us on CHVRCHES poster designs, we have been discussing ways in which we could further our creative relationship. His work on comics such as Phonogram, Young Avengers, and most recently The Wicked + The Divine have cemented his reputation as one of the most unique and exciting artists.” If he worked on Young Avengers, does that make CHVRCHES part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? There’s a new Iron Man in the comics — why not replace with Robert Downey, Jr. with Mayberry in the movies?
