Watch Demi Lovato Team Up With Jamie Foxx To Cover ‘Georgia On My Mind’

Demi Lovato is out to prove she’s got some pipes.

The singer is currently on her 42 stop Future Now Tour with Nick Jonas — that’s the Jonas brother who likes to make metaphorical references to bacon, not cake — and last night, the pair hit up Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to entertain a crowd of teens, tweens and their clueless parents with some surprise guests as backup.

Mike Posner and Brooklyn’s own Desiigner popped up to cover a few of their popular tunes but the show stealing performance came when Lovato welcomed Jamie Foxx out on stage. Armed with a white piano and stylish fedora, Foxx decided to remind the crowd just why he won that Oscar for his portrayal of legendary singer Ray Charles with a mashup that included the R&B icon’s famous “Georgia On My Mind.”

The two kicked things off with a short rendition of Jay Z’s “Empire State Of Mind” before “taking it to the South” with the soulful ballad. A couple things we learned from the duet: not only do Foxx and Lovato somehow know each other, they can sing. We mean really sing. While Foxx has had plenty of practice covering the beloved tune it’s Lovato who really shines, especially when she’s given free reign to utilize that incredible vocal range.

Forget Jonas, let’s start a petition now to get Foxx and Lovato out on tour together.
