Denzel Curry and Joey BadA$$ Fight The Battle To Stay Woke In The New ‘Zenith’ Video

Denzel Curry and collaborator and friend Joey BadA$$ team up in the new video for “Zenith,” one of the standouts from Curry’s Imperial project. The visual, directed by JMP for Urban Outfitters’ Music Video Series, encapsulates the song’s opening lines: “Catch me on the zenith, that’s the only time you’ll see ’em / Televised, paralyzed, thoughts are paraplegic.” In the clip, the two MCs are trapped in separate rooms – Denzel in an all-white room, Joey in a contrasting blackened space – surrounded by monitors and a room full of slumped over friends, who are actually C9 and Pro Era homies, as they fight to awaken their homies and break free from their captivity.

The black and white treatment is a curious but enjoyable watch for anyone who finds delight in lyricism and flows plus woke messages mixed into the audio and visuals. And it’s all by design, according to Curry, who said, “When you look at the stuff that I’m releasing now, all of that fits around pure honesty, but I wanted to put it into a weird world.”

The video comes as Curry delivers news of a wider release for Imperial (Oct. 14) that includes two new tracks added to the breakthrough project: “Me Now” and “Good Night” featuring Twelvelen and Nell. The Florida upstart also share news of a full set of tour dates stretching from October to mid-December.
