With music easily made and readily shared by new artists every day, there are hundreds of high quality songs that fly under the radar. Every week, BEWARE Bowdon scours the web to weed out the dimes from the duds and share the wealth via BEWARE’s Block, a collection of eight buzzing tracks from artists currently breaking ground in their respective genres.

Like – “Miss Me With That” Video

When people keep coming at you with the same ol’ bulls**t, turn up Like’s “Miss Me with That” and keep it moving. Seriously. With so much opportunity out there, there’s no need to focus on negativity, which is the theme behind the Pac Div member’s somber but potent new single. The no nonsense concept is amped up by a deadpan video, showing a focus that can’t be shaken. Check out Like’s Songs Made While High project on Spotify.

Case Arnold – “Love Found”

Based on the opening sample chops, Case Arnold’s “Love Found” feels like it could go a few different ways. Sinister. Somber. Sentimental. Well, somehow this neck-breaking track managed to click in the form of a calloused love song, which finds the Tennessee rapper looking to win back his better half yet again with open book honesty and memories of better days. Hopefully she’s a rap fan, because this one might just work.

IshDARR – “Bad for You” (Prod. by Take A Daytrip)

Are you as excited for IshDARR’s new project as I am? Between the repeat worthy “Locals,” undeniable bounce of “Mucho Mango” and now this 10,000 feet high new release “Bad for You,” the boy from Milwaukee is about to turn the fourth quarter on it’s head, whether people are paying attention or not. This one’s particularly easy to digest, offering a high end vibe that should come with a pre-roll to help settle into the mood. Broken Hearts and Bankrolls drops Oct 9. I might just pre-order on iTunes.

Caleborate – “Consequences” Video

Another young gun folks should totally have on their radar by now is Caleborate. This rising Bay Area rapper is consistently raising the bar on his material, constantly offering high-end releases like this video for “Consequences,” a confident slumper that jumps between dancey and tough, which Caleb proceeds to kill with his teeter-totter flows and casual confidence. The well-shot video pretty much follows suit. Of course it does though. Download Caleborate’s 1993 project here.

Oba Rowland – “GOAT Flow” (Prod. by iRockSays)

Sometimes you’re just on one. If you listen to Oba Rowland’s “GOAT Flow” single, it’s clear the Detroit MC was on quite a few while recording this high-speed stereo spanker. Atop a beat from iRockSays that’s hard not to nod along with, Oba offers flows that cut like a Ginsu knife, getting extremely precise with his game spitting on numerous topics. Of all the rappers from the 313, Oba definitely stands out.

Derek Minor feat. BJ The Chicago Kid – “Until I’m Gone” Video

No matter how hard things get along the way, some people are worth going the extra mile for. On Derek Minor’s uplifting new single “Until I’m Gone,” the veteran Pontiac, MI rapper uses a lively, soulful track with BJ The Chicago Kid to remind everyone he cares about they’re the reason he keeps pushing his message to the masses. Minor’s upcoming REFLECTION LP drops October 14.

Mont Jake feat. Assassin and Bryn the First – “Pearly Cloud”

Slow and steady goes Mont Jake’s “Pearly Cloud,” a soulful turned menacing sonic trip that’s totally worth checking out. The Danish artist mixes his own rising production and vibrant vocals with invigorating bars from Jamaican star Assassin and a rapid-fire sixteen from teenage rapper Bryn The First, offering a high-powered track with a sticky, versatile feel that’s broad enough to lure in just about everyone.

Yellow House – “Better Views”

Awareness is key when being tested. If you understand bad things are happening, simply to test your will, it can be much easier to go hard and come out on top. That’s the theme behind Yellow House’s “Better Views.” In this case, the South African singer/producer appears to speaking in terms of a relationship, offering tranquil alternative vibes that start off like mental Tylenol and end up offering a low-key hustle session, thanks to a surprisingly uptempo drum track and guitar-laced waves of cool. If your mind or body are numb, this one should help subdue the throb.
