A Mississippi Radio Station Has Hired David Mueller, The DJ Who Groped Taylor Swift

Update: TMZ reports that two days after David Mueller started his new job at KIX 92.7 in Greenwood, Mississippi on Monday, the radio station was evacuated by police today (January 31st) after somebody emailed a bomb threat. According to a “source at KIX,” the email was directly related to Mueller’s hiring. Greenwood police chief Ray Moore says that a bomb-sniffing dog did not find any explosives in the building.

Clarksdale, Mississippi country radio station KIX 92.7 has hired David Mueller, the DJ who was fired for groping Taylor Swift in 2013. On January 29 Mueller began co-hosting a morning show under the nickname Jackson, as in Confederate War general Stonewall Jackson.

Mueller was working in Denver station KYGO when, as Swift alleges, he grabbed her behind while posing for a photo. Once Swift reported the incident to KYGO, KYGO fired Mueller, and he sued Swift two years later for costing him his job. (He lost that $3 million lawsuit and begrudgingly paid a court-ordered $1 to Swift.)

According to Mueller’s new employer, Delta Radio CEO Larry Fuss, he was so desperate to get back on the air, he even offered to work for free.

“I sat down with him face-to-face in Minneapolis before I offered him the job and talked to him about it,” Fuss said to New York Daily News. “He’s either the world’s best liar, or he’s telling the truth. I tend to believe his version of the story and most people who have talked to him face-to-face do believe his version of the story.”

Fuss insists that he hired Mueller because of his talent, though his decision was also “maybe a tiny bit” in hopes of drumming up publicity. KIX 92.7, Mueller’s new home, only launched last summer.
