Thanks To Your Generosity, Ed Sheeran Wore A Tutu And Ate Some Snails

Sometimes you have to put on your finest red tutu and dine on sea snails and fermented beans to help children in need. This may sound like the gameplan of an elderly oil baron slipping into madness, but instead it’s actually the brainchild of popular recording artist Ed Sheeran.

Ed issued a Red Nose Day challenge yesterday, saying that if this campaign brought in more scratch than last year’s $23 million total, he’d do something special. Namely, put on a red tutu and eat “the most disgusting thing in Japan,” the country he’s currently at. (“Fermented beans and sea snails” is the winner of that derby according to Ed’s friend Takeshi.) Seeing as Ed’s on a social media hiatus, the message was relayed by Late Late Show host/Sheeran pal James Corden yesterday.

America proved up to the challenge as an impressive $31.5 million was collected in the celeb-packed fundraising effort. True to his word, Ed followed through by putting on a tutu and sucking down those snails. If you’ve ever wanted to see this English troubadour in agony reaching for a barf receptacle on a desk with waaaaaay too many pairs of glasses, you’ve come to the right place. You’ve come to the only place for that.

Red Nose Day wasn’t lacking in other memorable moments. If you haven’t checked out The Walking Dead Red Nose Day Holiday Special, Ramsay Bolton And Danny Trejo singing about being good guys in real life, or Key & Peele engaging in a generosity war, what are you waiting for? Also if you’d like to donate to Red Nose Day, you still can.
