Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Confirms The Band Is Taking An ‘Indefinite Hiatus’

It looks like those breakup rumors are coming true. Ahead of an official announcement about their status, the Foo Fighters’ drummer has broken his silence early to confirm that the group is going on hiatus.

According to Consequence of Sound, the outlet Artisan News pre-empted this announcement by publishing a video interview with drummer Taylor Hawkins. He sounds a bit upset about the break, saying, “We’re on ‘ihateus’ right now, we’re on an indefinite ‘ihateus.'”

The relevant part is at the 5:20 mark. After calling the hiatus an “ihateus,” Hawkins sounds a bit more gracious:

But that’s not because we don’t love each other, and we don’t want to make music together. We did so much in the last five or six years, we as a band could go into the studio tomorrow and start recording more and have just as much fun as we ever had, but I think the world needs a break from us for a little while.

As we previously touched on, Page Six reported that the band went on break this time around because Dave Grohl wanted to go solo, and that Hawkins is upset about it.

For what it’s worth, though, Hawkins does praise Grohl in the interview above.
