Adding Ennio Morricone Makes The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Tower Of Joy Scene A Spaghetti Western Classic

Time will pass, movies will be made, and composers will come and go, but Ennio Morricone will always be a timeless legend. His music has spanned over seven decades, and at 87, he’s still going strong thanks to Quentin Tarantino. Despite scoring movies in every genre known to man, Morricone’s most memorable scores are of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns from the ’60s and ’70s. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West are two of the best-selling soundtracks of all time, and now The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’s Ecstasy of Gold has been placed over Game of Thrones’ Tower of Joy scene, for added badassness. The squints are even more prominent when you add Morricone.

Whether this is better than the Tower of Joy lightsaber mashup is up to you. I prefer this, even though I loved the lightsaberfication of the scene. There’s something about how YouTube creator Shahan Reviews eliminates the dialogue to make it more Leon-esque. Visually, the dusty filter added to the clean production Game of Thrones usually boasts completes the Westernization of Westeros.

Screw it — let’s reboot all of Game of Thrones into an epic western. Where’s Ian McShane!?
