Gucci Mane is having a hell of a year. After finally being released from a three-plus-year prison sentence for the charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, he will spend the final months of his sentence on house arrest at his home in Marietta, Georgia. After he returned home, he immediately began to release music, and the underlying narrative surrounding his release is that he is now sober, and as The New York Times points out, extremely buff, and well, in The New York Times!

The number of massive profiles celebrating the legendary rapper’s redemption narrative is impressive in its own right. Along with the elegant Times piece, Fader ran an enormous cover story that made me openly weep at times, as well as reflections from Mike Will Made It about working with Gucci.

All these focused on his music, centering around his decade-spanning legacy and incredible new album Everybody’s Looking which features Drake, Young Thug, and even Kanye West as guests, and includes the latter on the most body positive and creative rap song to mention female genitalia that’s not by Nicki Minaj, “Pussy Print.”

But, music aside, a follow up in Vogue redirected our attention to another area where Gucci excels — personal style. In the piece, he namechecks his stylist Shun Melson, and his girlfriend, Keyshia Ka’oir for helping him learn the wonders of online shopping, and praises designers like Givenchy, Balmain and Christian Louboutin, among others. Overall, it seems like Gucci’s sobriety has allowed him to express and explore areas of his life in a way that he wasn’t previously able to, and people are both overjoyed and excited to watch him be so happy and free.

As if to drive that last point home, he posted an Instagram today captioned: “Multimillionaire LaFlare in dat Alexander McQuuen.” One can only assume that spelling is not at all an error, but simply an editorial choice made specifically to indicate the pronunciation style Gucci favors. Everybody’s looking, and the view couldn’t be better.
