Singer-Songwriter Helena Deland’s ‘There Are A Thousand’ Is Equal Parts Folk Pop And Indie Rock

Alex Huard

Montreal singer-songwriter Helena Delend is employing an unconventional rollout for her upcoming release. Rather than releasing a traditional EP, Deland is releasing a series of track couplets, which will then be drawn together in March for the compilation release From the Series of Songs “Altogether Unaccompanied” Vol. I & II.

On “There Are A Thousand,” her first new material since signing to Luminelle Recordings, Deland puts an emphasis on glorious vocal melodies and harmonies, showcasing her unique lyrical choices and knack for wordplay. Altogether, it’s a track that’s equal parts folk pop and alternative rock, making for a supremely rewarding listen that will leave you clamoring for more. Check it out below.
