Jimmy Eat World Performed A Delightful Taylor Swift Cover On ‘Conan’

Although Jimmy Eat World hasn’t quite been able to match the mainstream popularity they received after releasing the one-two shot of 2001’s Bleed American and, three years later, Futures, they’ve quietly put out three very good emo pop-punk albums since then, including this year’s Damage. The songs still sound wrenching, especially if you’re 15 years old or 25 years old and have the emotional maturity of a 15-year-old.

That might be why they decided to cover Taylor Swift’s pubescent anthem “We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together” on Conan last night, as a web exclusive. It’s also really good, not that that’s much of a surprise: Jimmy Eat World has always been excellent with covers. See their take on Guided by Voices’ “Game of Pricks,” and this is the first paragraph ever to mention both GbV and T-Swift. Ever ever ever.
