Jonathan Demme might best be known for his Oscar-winning feature films like The Silence Of The Lambs and Philadelphia, but the acclaimed director has helmed a few highly well-received concert films as well. His most famous one — and a contender for the title of best concert film ever — was Stop Making Sense, which captured the Talking Heads at the absolute peak of their powers. Over two decades later, he would direct Neil Young: Heart Of Gold, which, while not quite as iconic, was still critically acclaimed. Now, Demme is making his way into the pop world with a Justin Timberlake concert film which will be debuting on Netflix next month.
The film, entitled Justin Timberlake And The Tennessee Kids will be making its Netflix debut on Oct. 12. The film focuses on the final show of Timberlake’s tour to support The 20/20 Experience, which lasted for over two years. The show took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and as you can see from the above trailer, the movie will give an in-depth look at the massive preparation that went into putting the show together. This was one of the most epic tours by a pop star in history, and having it documented by a legend such as Demme should be quite captivating.
If you missed JT when he came to your hometown (note: I missed it when he came to Buffalo, and I’m still bummed about it), watching this film will likely be the next best thing.
