Justin Timberlake Plays Innocent When Discussing His Voting Booth Selfie With Jimmy Fallon

Justin Timberlake made his return to The Tonight Show on Wednesday, solidifying his best friend status with Jimmy Fallon and having some fun with the host in another summer camp sketch. They get that out of the way early in the show and you can see it below, but the interview segment is forced to address another topic when it starts.

If you didn’t hear, Timberlake was apparently in a little hot water for flying back to Tennessee and then proceeding to take a selfie while early voting. The word when the news broke was that Timberlake could possibly face jail time for the picture, which obviously didn’t turn out to be the case. Now if you or any normal civilian tried such activities, the results might not be the same. For Timberlake, according to CNN, the conclusion was positive:

The misdemeanor crime is punishable by 30 days in jail and/or a $50 fine in Tennessee.

But on Wednesday the district’s attorney’s office said it had no plans to investigate. According to a statement from Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich, an earlier statement saying the Timberlake incident was being investigated “was incorrect and was released without my knowledge.”

“No one in our office is currently investigating this matter nor will we be using our limited resources to do so,” the statement added.

That’s a way to put an end to that. Timberlake still tells the viewers and the audience not to take a picture when they go out to vote, but they should definitely go out to vote. The rest of the interview travels to normal territory, with some talk about Timberlake’s Netflix special and play a best friend’s game. It’s like wading through a sea of sticky maple syrup and then tripping along the way.

The summer camp sketch is highlighted with some wet short shorts and the pair singing Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic’ while wearing braces. It’s no different than the past sketches, but neither can seem to keep a straight face.
