Kanye West Gave A 20-Minute Acceptance Speech At An Awards Show For Shoes

Kanye West isn’t known for tight, concise speeches. When ‘Ye gets a hold of the mic, it’s time to strap in. His recent acceptance speech after winning “Shoe Of The Year” at the Footwear News awards (a very real thing that exists, we assure you), Kanye took over for a solid 20 minutes to talk about his reputation, his family and his award-winning Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers.

Perhaps the biggest revelation was Kanye saying that he footed the bill for a lot of the development of his signature shoes.

“The contract said 25 SKUs, and the fashion show I was supposed to do a collection with 25 SKUs — I don’t know how that was supposed to happen. And the original talent budget was $500,000 — I don’t know how I was supposed to put a design team together for that, but luckily I was a multi-millionaire rapper and I covered the rest of it.”

Kanye then turned to the adidas representatives on the stage and said, “I hooked you guys up.”

Overall, Kanye seemed to have a sense of humor about the proceedings, warning audience members before he got into his long-winded speech about what was coming next.

“If you don’t like 10-minute profanity-ridden speeches that end with a presidential bid, you can go to the bathroom.”

Check the whole thing out up top.
