Kesha Stunned Coachella By Joining Zedd For A Surprise Performance

Over the past several months, Kesha’s been wrapped up in a legal battle with Sony and producer Dr. Luke after alleging years of abuse. The New York Supreme Court turned down her injunction request and recently dismissed her appeal, so she must continue recording and selling merchandise only through Sony. For his part, Dr. Luke has unequivocally denied all allegations against him by the singer. Not too long ago, Kesha said that Dr. Luke offered to cut her loose if she made a public apology, which the producer claimed was an untruth as well.

Things have remained quiet since the court turned down Kesha’s appeal, but Coachella was full of surprises (including a Bernie Sanders intro for Run the Jewels), and Kesha joined as part of the trend. During Zedd’s Saturday evening set, he introduced the crowd to a special guest. The audience enthusiastically cheered, but Kesha (whose hair is currently styled with a rainbow ombre look) didn’t speak to the audience. She merely sang “True Colors,” which includes the lyrics, “I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes.”

After the performance, Zedd tweeted a “thank you” to the pop star. The videos clips from Twitter show the crowd approval during this unexpected moment.
