Just A Bunch Of Insanely Talented Kids Playing The ‘Luke Cage’ Theme Song…Live

I think we can all agree that part of what makes Marvel’s Luke Cage television series awesome is the music. Plainly stated, it’s dope as hell. Even though we were made aware beforehand that every episode was going to be named after a Gang Starr track, I knew we were in for something special when episode one featured Raphael freaking Saadiq rocking out at Cottonmouth’s club. Thank you, Adrian Younge and ATCQ’s Ali. Also, fans of the music, particularly the ’70s-esque theme song, are these batch of crazy talented kids.

Younge shared this terrific clip of students recreating the jazzy Luke Cage theme, and yeah, it’s all of the things. “These kids totally made my heart melt with the @marvelslukecage theme,” an excited Younge posted on Instagram. “Absolutely amazing and unbelievable. The drums!!!”

Yes, the motherloving drums. Sweet Christmas! The most I can do is play Clipse’s “Grindin'” beat on a table, and I can barely do that without badly messing up at first. But a special shout out to the kid on the keyboard with the black hoodie. You knew he was about to go straight to work when he threw that bad boy on. And he sure enough did, just like the rest of these gifted kids.
