Laura Jane Grace Of Against Me! Is Releasing Her Memoir Titled ‘Tranny’

In the summer of 2012, Against Me!’s lead vocalist, Laura Jane Grace, came out as being transgender, and from that moment would go on living as a woman. The music of Against Me! would still be the same, except now the group was being fronted by someone who was finally comfortable in their own skin. It was a big deal for Grace and for the trans and punk communities at large, both of which have been very helpful and accepting of the transition.

After recording about her journey in the form of 2014’s Against Me! album Transgender Dysphoria Blues, Grace is now set to release a proper memoir: Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout. With the help of Noisey’s Dan Ozzi, Tranny is set for a November 15 release through Hachette Book Group. Ozzi tells EW, “The book mixes narrative about Laura’s life — growing up with dysphoria and playing in our generation’s most influential punk band — with amazing journal entries she’s been keeping since she was a kid.”

Along with being an advocate for trans rights and fronting one of the biggest punk bands around, Laura Jane Grace might also have a role in the upcoming Star Wars thanks to an online petition.
