Lil Skies Does Major Damage In The ‘Purge’-Inspired ‘Lettuce Sandwich’ Video

Lil Skies continues his climb toward rap dominance with a horror movie-inspired video for “Lettuce Sandwich,” from his Life Of A Dark Rose debut album. Directed by Nicholas Jandora, the ominous black-and-white clip takes visual inspiration from both classics like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and new favorites like The Purge, which has a new prequel on the way.

In the creepy visuals, Skies plays horror movie serial killer alongside some of his crew, carting around a lethal-looking buzzsaw-adorned contraption to terrorize a visitor to his abandoned house. He and his gang also demolish a Mercedes Benz with bats and cruise around crazily in another one, Skies hanging out the door like a madman (don’t try this at home, kids).

Life Of A Dark Rose came seemingly out of nowhere late last year, but rose quickly to a respectable position on the Billboard 200 charts, propelled by some killer singles and Skies own, unique flow and clear artistic vision. He already has a promising-looking Gucci Mane collaboration on the way, as well. While his name may suggest an anti-establishment Soundcloud rapper, all distortion and experimentation, he actually raps well, switching coolly from ’90s-style, straightforward bars to the more singsong style of the modern era. Combined with a tatted-up rockstar look that appeals to fans of more out-there new musicians like Lil Uzi Vert (who also secretly has bars for days) and XXXTentacion, Lil Skies has all the building blocks of a real rap superstar.
