This Guy Reading A Book During A Beyonce Concert Clearly Did Not Know He Was In The Presence Of Royalty

This hilarious scene was caught during a Raleigh stop of Beyonce’s Formation World Tour earlier this week by concertgoer Michelle Garder, who tweeted the plight of a man who was ostensibly being held at the concert again his will. Much like a woman who was caught reading at a Trump rally last year, the man seemed oblivious to the concert going on around him, fully engrossed in his book. (Although unlike the woman at the Trump rally, perhaps the man would have put the book down if he would have known he was in the presence of actual American royalty.)

The tweet quickly went viral, and was circulated on local media until the identity of the man was eventually revealed as 66-year-old George Papageorgiou. Despite the suggestion in Garder’s tweet that he had been dragged along by his wife, Papageorgiou told Raleigh’s ABC 11 News that he and his wife had been working concessions at the Carter-Finley Stadium for their church and that they had only taken a seat when they were finished.

“After a while, we watch the show. It was okay, and then we just sat down. I pulled up my book and start reading,” he recalled.

“I find Beyonce a great showwoman, very attractive. Her music? Eh, fine, but not my style,” the Greece native said. “I listen to ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and a lot of Greek music.”

You can’t argue with that, because the guy at least gave it a shot. Maybe something like Jesse and the Rippers would have been a bit more his speed.
